is there a site where I can review these things compare features or lack thereof.
I want things like focal length, fstop, shutter speeds etc. Otherwise Ill use www.photoworks.com and a real camera.
You could try www.dpreview.com , that's fairly well respected. I've used a Nikon D70 with considerable success, if you want a recommendation for a digital SLR, and the D50 and D70s are also well thought of. If you want a really small point-and-shoot, take a look at the Casio range, which do quite a lot of what 'real' cameras do in a very small space.

:-)))))) I'm in the process of saving my pennies for a Nikon D50 :-) I take it that it works fine in Linux then?
Yes.
Yeah, my mom has some uber-expensive digital SLR for her work. She just simply plugs the camera in and it shows up on Konqueror. I've taught her how to cut and paste the files over to her hard drive. She's then learned how to make a CD of the files using K3B. Now if I can only teach her CUPS admin functions for when her printer messes up.... ...nevermind, that's hopeless. -- k

Having looked at some prices I'm not too far off. I can get a D50 with an 18 - 55mm lens together with a second lens of 55 - 300mm all for just over £500UK Which is not a bad price and it includes VAT (sales,GST or purchase tax). Now I just need to get rid of my two other Nikons and the old Olympus OM10. Trouble is, them being 35mm film I'm not going to get an awful lot for them :-((( shame because they are superb cameras. -- ============================================== I am only human, please forgive me if I make a mistake it is not deliberate. ============================================== PLEASE DON'T drink and drive it's not clever, it's just stupid. You do know that your Nikon film camera lens fits the Nikon digital cameras... right? My Nikon Coolpix L4 works great (so far) in 10.0. Connect the camera and everything works. I'll let someone else figure out if 10.1 works. ;) Yea, the L4 isn't close to the D50 or D70s, but I'm not up to that too much $ for me right now. I'll keep my film camera for now. Anything I want digital high end, I use my Nikon LS-2000 and scan the negs for a 35+/- meg shot. (don't know how the scanner works with 10.0 yet. Haven't tried yet. It's SCSI) What film cameras do you have? -- Thanks, George Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil. Jerry Garcia
