[opensuse] Unable to delete folders in Thunderbird 24.60
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm using Thunderbird 24.60 with KDE 4.13.2 and openSUSE 13.1. My mail is provided from an IMAP server (remote - not under my direct control). I filter mailing lists into their own folders. I have recently unsubscribed from a couple of lists, but I cannot delete their folders in Thunderbird. The folders are empty and the corresponding message filters have been deactivated. There are two other machines that are linked to the same email account; Thunderbird running on my laptop (also openSUSE 13.1 & KDE 4.13) and K9 running on my Android phone. I've tried deleting the folders in these two places as well, without success. In fact, I don't think K9 mail can delete folders. Anyone else seen this problem? yes, included in my own imap. I could do the job from the webmail associated I sometime wonder if it's no related to a reboot being necessary, but did not investigate jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

reboot: I mean reload of TH, not reboot the computer being necessary, but did not
investigate

See if I have this correct: you highlight the folder on the main screen of TB (the one which has all the folders listed in the left-hand column) and you right-click on that folder and the folder is not deleted after you click on "Delete" in the 'drop-down' menu? (Worked for me the other day but then I am using Earlybird (ie, TB v320a2), and things may have changed in the meantime. I'll try it on the laptop when I can and see if the folders are not being deleted.) Just thinking out aloud..... have the folders been Compacted (I compact them every night)? And is it possible that there is an error in the folder - ie, there are 2 files associated with the a folder; have "you" tried to Repair the folder (rhc>Properties?Repair Folder) to see if this clears the problem? in my case, the folder was (or seemed) empty but this was difficult to describe, so why I didn't open the thread. may be it's different for the OP? jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

but this was difficult to describe, so why I didn't open the thread.
But this is why I mentioned this- perhaps one of the files associated with the folder is not empty. I mean, I am only making suggestions..... Have "you" tried to delete the 2 files (of a folder) in /.thunderbird/<default>/Mail<or whatever> (but make a backup of them first to be on the safe side)?
may be it's different for the OP?
Possibly - and my comments are aimed at Bob as well as I hope that he would be reading this. Yes, compacted. I've since tried Repairing the folder but it didn't facilitate deletion :-( I shall try the webmail interface, as suggested by jdd. I'm happy to report that I was able to delete the folders through my email provider's webmail interface. I had to close & restart Thunderbird for it to see the changes.
