[opensuse] Re: Drivers nvidia
Hi, I am new to opensuse. I am enjoying it, in spite of some small problems... First of all, I think the video driver is not properly set, since in particular windows moving are not doing it in a smooth way. I have a nvidia quadro 600 and opensuse 12.2 64 bits, and i though it would be nice to install the proprietary drivers. I found some information on this in this link: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers I followed the one click installation, but it reported some difference between the signed driver and the one I was downloaded. It was stressed that it would be a big risk to download it. Is the one click procedure above really the best way to procedure? There is apparently a certificate issue with the nvidia repository - that was the error message you saw. I just saw it when I opened YaST Software Management as it refreshed the repositories cache. I suggest you hold off a couple of days while it is fixed. I presume you are currently using the nouveau driver. IIRC it now supports some Desktop Effects. Try disabling the effects one at a time to possibly isolate where the problem is, or disabling Effects altogether. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If it is not too late you could follow this nice guide http://opensuse-guide.org/3d.php for the proper and easy (propietary video drivers) 1-Click installation. Newcomer would prefer this way to step into the video configurations. In my case, I just install it when Nouveau driver is not working fine (glitches or noticeable pixellation). Hope this can help you. Or do it the way I always do... Open YaST > Software Repositories > Add > Community Repositories Select the nvidia repository from the list (I also always add Packman at this point) and click Next When asked, click Trust (for the keys) Do an update and the nVidia drivers will automatically be added to the system. Doing it this way means you have a few more clicks, but, you can add in nVidia, Packman and any other Community Repository you want at the same time (I usually also add in the LibreOffice repo plus Wine CVS and a few others I use). Thanks for your help! In the end I followed C's suggestions and everything went nice. The nvidia drivers are running and no more issues. Davi On 8 November 2012 04:07, C <smaug42@opensuse.org> wrote:
