7.0 is NICE, but think I need to upgrade KDE2...have to check SuSE' site. Try adding this to your ~/.xsession or ~/.xinitrc xmodmap -e "keycode 22 = BackSpace" If 22 is not the right value for your backspace then run 'xev', and hit the backspace, you should see a single event for it, with the correct keycode.
