Sorry, a simple question.
I need to talk to my office's Cisco router and Pix firewall, the vendor told me to use hyper terminal in NT/9x which the whole cabinet of servers are all SuSE Linux. : )
Can someone point me to the right way to get it work? I tried minicom, etc but they are don't care about (the cisco things).
Help and thanks.
Dennis @Singapore.

routers, terminal servers, 3Com and Bay switches, etc., with no problems. Can you be more explicit about the "cisco things" that minicom, etc. don't like?
It isn't evident from your comments whether you get any response at all from the routers, or just garbage. If you get nothing from the box, be sure you have the right serial cable (null modem or straight-through). I know Cisco has two different DB-9 to RJ-45 adapters, one for straight-through (modem connections) and a null modem variant (for direct PC connections), too, so be sure you've got the right combination.

I tried minicom with the 'black' flat cable came together with the router/firewall. I am sure that is the right cable as it was used by the SI (system integrator) on NT through hyper-terminal.
