[S.u.S.E. Linux] Attn: Newbies - Linux Information Web Site!]
For those of you who know about the Linux Gazette, this is not for
you. For those newbies that have a thirst for more information, read
on.
There is a Linux magazine available on the net called "The Linux
Gazette". I discovered this a couple of years ago and it made the
transition to Linux a pleasure. It was started by a college student,
John Fisk, as a way to share the information he was discovering as he
migrated to Linux. John has since given up the job and it is now
being maintained by SSC, the publisher of "The Linux Journal".
The current issus is #23. In these 23 issues you will, IMHO
find more good information, then you will get form a newsgroup in a
year. Even now, I have the site as my Netscape "home site" and go
there everytime I use Netscape.
SSC has set up a search engine so that you may search on topics from
anywhere on their site. Save a lot of time over posting to alist about
a general Linux topic and then waiting hours/days for an answer.
Give it a try, You will be glad you did.
The site is www.linuxgazette.com (199.184.169.70).
Hint:
if you add the following line to /etc/hosts the connect will be faster.
199.184.169.70 www.linuxgazette.com lj
and you only have to type lj to get there. When you figure out why,
you are on your way out of the newbie ranks!
NOTE: I have no connection to SSC or John Fisk. My only interest in
SSC is I think their site is very usefull. I appreciate the effort
that John put into this project and think he deserves cridit for it.
