Does anyone know if 11.2 will ship with a list of ntp sites, so proper time and date can be kept? 11.2 RC2 doesn't have that list yet. You don't need a list Fred, just google up a list and pick one at random. maybe even ntp.lightlink.com with a backup from a state university. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, it does, but there's NO LIST. Fred -- Windows 7: I wanted more reliable, so I have more reliable. I use Linux! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just tried "yast ntp configuration - add - server - select - public ntp server" and it gives me a list. I've got to rc2 via factory though, maybe there's a bug if you fresh install or update from 11.1. Why would anyone want a list? The ntp people provided the pool servers especially so that our own prejudices wouldn't overload a few big-name servers and leave others unused. I don't know where the list comes from but it actually had one more South African server on it than the ntp web site. Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I think there are a couple of nitpick exceptions to the last sentence, so to avoid future readers getting the wrong meaning here are clarifications: (1) Patrick's list was only appropriate for yanks. Instead go to <http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/> and follow the links there to find an appropriate list for you. (note - more non-Europeans might want to volunteer to act as servers :) (2) If you are on a network with professional administration, first check whether your administrators provide a local NTP service. If you're living in the US his list isn't bad. But generally you should simply consult http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers for NTP pools in your neighborhood. Fred, are you sure? I have (what looks like) a complete list on my RC2 system. I have a local DCF receiver, so I don't use it, but the list looks good. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just looked at my system and there is a list on mine. i select Big Bend Community College which is right here in town. Had to find it thru Add--> Sever starting with MS8. I'm now on RC2 with all latest updates so it may be the release version or close. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
