I've been trying to burn a iso of Windows 7 i downloaded but it just opens the window to say its its preparing and the progress does not go any further than 0%. I would guess you have other problems contributing, systemd_coredump does not sound related to burning an iso with k3b. Yep, i thought so, it was just so co-incidental and that was all that i was running at the time but it only happened once

I'm not sure you need any special codecs to burn an iso image. You start k3b, select burn image from the top menu, select your image and go. I've gone back to 2.0.3 from KDE Extra and that seems to work. The tumbleweed version seems to get stuck at doing the MD5 check.
