Sorry if this has been rehashed. My system : Suse 6.4, Dell Precision 420 with duel Pentium 3 866, 512 megs of RDRAM, GeForce 32 meg DDR card by Hercules. Suse 6.4 installed and X runs fine with the SVGA server. However, I upgraded to a Hercules Prophet II Geforce 2 (GTS) 64 meg card, now upon starting X I get a garbled display. Sax runs, but when I try to open any X windows (testing, etc.) I get a garbled display with garbles all consoles - I have to hard reboot to get Linux back. I am using the standard 6.4 X / KDE release, I did try upgrading to X 4.0 but that didn't help (I am not sure if I even installed it correctly - I am a Linux newbie). Can anyone help me here?
