I've been looking for the repository for KDE updates. From opensuse.org it 'indicates' http://www.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1 Here is my entry in the channel list for smart [KDE] type = yast2 name = KDE Updates baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ here is the response I get when I run smart update Fetching information for 'KDE Updates'... -> http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/.../media media [ 0%] error: Failed acquiring information for 'KDE Updates': error: http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE%3A/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1/media.1/me...: Internal Server Error Could somebody please make this really simple for me and tell me precisely what I need to add to my channel list to get KDE updates? Thanks Phil

Below is the complete list of all the sources I have for smart. BTW, the names in [ ] are the alias names and it is the name you would put in the command line statement when you are, say, enabling or disabling a source- for example: smart channel --disable "suse-wine" or smart channel --enable "suse-wine" BEGIN [suse-wine] type = rpm-md name = Latest wine packages disabled = yes baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/Emulators:/Wine/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ [2nd KDE Backports] type = rpm-md name = 2nd Source Current KDE apps baseurl = http://repos.opensuse.org/KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_10.1 [packman] type = yast2 name = Packman 3rd Party Package Repository baseurl = http://packman.inode.at/suse/10.1 [guru] type = yast2 name = Guru 3rd party package repository baseurl = http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.1 [suse] type = yast2 name = SUSE 10.1 OpenSource Repository baseurl = http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source [suse-kde-backports] type = rpm-md name = Current KDE applications baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_10.1 [suse-kde] type = rpm-md name = Latest KDE packages baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1 [suse-non-oss] type = yast2 name = SUSE 10.1 Add-On Repository with non OpenSource Packages baseurl = http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source [rpm-sys] type = rpm-sys name = RPM System [suse-alternative] type = apt-rpm name = Online-Updates disabled = yes baseurl = http://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/10.1-i386 components = update [suse-mozilla] type = rpm-md name = Latest mozilla.org packages disabled = yes baseurl = ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/10.1 [packman-10.1-yast2] type = yast2 name = packman.links2linux baseurl = ftp://packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1 [suse-update] type = rpm-md name = SUSE Linux Online Updates baseurl = ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.1/ [Packman Bremen] type = yast2 name = Packman Bremen baseurl = http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.1 END Cheers. -- Paranoia is simply an optimistic outlook on life.

If you're running KDE, install the Smart GUI, open it, click edit -> channels and check the boxes for KDE updates and backports as they're disabled by default. I found that quicker and easier than going through the command line method. Matthew
