[SLE] Installing ATI 9700 mobility drivers
Hi Everyone, Hope this is the right forum for this... I am installing the the ATI Linux video drivers for my ATI mobility 9700 video card on my AMD64 notebook running SUSE 10.0 with the lastest patches and upgrades. (fglrx64_6_8_0_SUSE100-8.26.18-1.x86_64.rpm) I am following the install instructions found on the Novell website: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17340.html I've made sure that I have all of the relevant packages installed. When I try to install the rpm (from tty1, init 3) I get the following errors: Package kernal-source needs to be installed by Yast first. Building/installation of fglrx kernel module failed. Try again by calling /usr/X1186/bin/fglrx-kernel-build.sh I have kernel-source 2.6.13 installed. I would appreciate any solutions or thoughts about this. Scott, I've always used the driver installer script (e.g. ati-driver-installer-8.25.18-x86.run ) and I've never had any problems. I install on three machines (Intel with AGP 9600, AMD64 with PCI-E X800GTO and AMD64 laptop with 9700 mobility) Peter -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
