Problem upgrade, downloaded - installed but nothing changes
Dear All, I have problem during upgrade KDE. I have packman and supplementary update KDE (from http://suse.cbn.net.id/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source/ ). Then I do 'Select zzz, upgrade when newer version available'. It's downloading about 250 Mb.. Then after 'Finish' icon showed up, I clik it.. But when I do 'rpm -qa | grep kdelibs', it still show kdelibs3-3.5.1-15 kdelibs3-arts-3.5.1-15 kdelibs3-doc-3.5.1-15 I really sure that KDElibs3-3.5.2 was downloaded and installed (as well with other KDE's). But still this computer using KDE3-3.5.1. What happen with my downloaded files ? Why they're not being installed ? Where's my downloaded files ? If they still in my computer, can I install them manully ? regards, -- Arie Reynaldi Zanahar reymanx at gmail.com http://www.reynaldi.or.id

Hi Arie, Try this: Log out (close session only) Ctl+Alt+F2 log in as root "init 3" and wait; at prompt hit 'Enter' "init 5 && exit" and check to see if this has changed. I suspect you've upgraded successfully but neglected to shut down and restart X. Good luck! Carl

Hi Carl, I've try it, I even restart the computer. But whenever I check in rpm -qa | grep kdelibs, it still come compaq:~ # rpm -qa | grep kdelibs kdelibs3-doc-3.5.1-15 kdelibs3-arts-3.5.1-15 kdelibs3-3.5.1-15 It seems every packages (KDE 3.5.2) that i download it's not installed. Where YOU or Yast put download packages ? Can I install manually from it ? regards, -- Arie Reynaldi Zanahar reymanx at gmail.com http://www.reynaldi.or.id

Hi Carl,
I've try it, I even restart the computer. Otherwise, you can just download them from the ftp server.
Yes, you can install using yast; just run "yast -i <package>" where <package> is the name of the rpm to be installed. Run "yast --help" to read a short help on this.
