[opensuse] Dropbox issues with encrypted homes
I notice the Dropbox package on 13.2 repositories is hopeless out of date, and that Dropbox likes to download and install itself in ~/.dropbox.dist where it is at least almost up to date. Once Dropbox gets itself installed there, the system package doesn't need to be installed at all and usually fails to launch. Even if it does launch it requires re-linking your drobbox account (essentially re-setting-up) on EVERY reboot, especially if you have an encrypted home partition. It seems the default package tries to launch before I have a chance to key in my decryption password. I've found that deleting the opensuse package, and just running with what dropbox installs in ~/.dropbox-dist works fine. (I softlinked link ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd to ~/bin/dropbox). This launches without any problems upon reboot. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
