Running Illustrator 8.0 and Dreamweaver MX

I got Illustrator 8.0 and Dreamweaver MX working perfectly with the following: cd ~/cxoffice/support/dotwine/fake_windows/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver\ MX ~/cxoffice/bin/wine Dreamweaver.exe My question is, how can I make this into a script so that I can place a shortcut or script on my desktop rather than typing this in all the time? A step-by-step would be nice. Also, Photoshop 5.5 works perfectly from the menu. No need to run the above script. Thanks, Tom

HEY, WAIT WAIT WAIT A MINUTE!!! You've got Illustrator working in wine????? I really want the details on how you did this !!! I tried just sort of randomly to get Illustrator running and it looked like it was almost going to run. I think I need a lot of .dll libraries. So how could I get a summary of what you did or some notes?? Which version of wine? Which libraries? Anything else?? Did you mean to post this on linux-sxs.org? CXOffice is by CodeWeavers. It runs a ton of Windows programs. You might visit their site. I'll warn you ..this is payware but it works. It's a "tweaked" version of Wine that you can get an winehq but they do the tweaking so you don't have to. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. Thanks very much for this link. I checked out their website and under Illustrator 8.0, it is marked as "known not to work". Oh, well. Maybe next year. But we'll see what Tom comes up with. -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd Rather Be Sailing"

Just because it hasn't been officially approve to run doesn't mean it won't run. The other poster said it does work but he didn't know how to make a short cut to launch it without doing it via commandline. A good thing to do is lurk on their discuss mailing list. It's not a high traffic mailing list so it won't be much of a bandwidth burden. I've been on it since I bought the CrossOver Plugin for QT usage. It's pretty informative. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.

Amen to that!!! Crossover Office, or COO, is a life saver and for only $50 or so. Because of them I was able to switch from W2K to Suse at work (because of various programs which only ran under Windows). I've got these programs running: Quickbooks, Photoshop 5.5, Illustrator 8, ACT! 2000, MS Office (although I really don't use it that much), and some other stuff. If you don't have it, check it out, www.codeweavers.com They offer some of the best support I've ever seen. Tom

Hi, I really like their work, too. But although I partly understand it, I don't appreciate that in Crossover 2.0.0 you would have to install all applications under Crossover's wine for each user separately. They say NOW that you have to buy the server edition or a multiuser license if you only want to install a Windows application once. With former versions no problem. I guess they "had" to do it because otherwise people wouldn't by their server edition. But it pisses me somewhat off. Would like to know if the 2 user multiuser license allows more than 2 users as well.. Ré
