Anders, While I am hesistant to add fuel to the fire, there is an interesting thread refuting the article driving this thread on Security Focus here: http://www.securityfocus.com/frames/?content=/templates/forum_message.html%3 fforum=2%26head=2782%26id=2782 The short answer is Linux's 84 reported vulerabilities are less then NT's 99, unless you are certain reporter named Moody. :Wouldn't this result in several entries for Linux (aggr.), while a similar exploit in Windows is just :one entry? The above article explains it like so: "The numbers for "Linux (aggr.)" reflect the total number of reported vulnerabilities across all distributions of Linux; if it's a Linux, it's in there, RedHat included. Also, if the same vulnerability is present in more than one distribution, it counts once. Therefore, for a representative number of all known Linux security bugs, one would only look at the Linux (aggr.) statistic". BTW, this is posted rather prominently on Linux Today and might be hard to load by the time you get this. http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2000-08-04-005-06-OP-CY Cheers, Thom -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
