Hi, I am runing my own web server at home, my ISP gives me a dynamic IP, and my IP address keeps changing every time. By registering a dynamic DNS service my domain name keeps pointing at my web server ever. MY ISSUE I must place this script /* lynx -source -auth=username:password 'http://dynamic.zoneedit.com/auth/dynamic.html?host=www.mydomain.com' */ here /* Users of dhcpcd may place these commands in the file /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.exe or /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth1.exe which are executed whenever a new dynamic IP address is acquired. */ but my problem is that SuSE 8.2 have other directory structure and file names, so I don't really know where to insert this piece of code. I believe is in the bottom of this file, /* /sbin/dhcpcd */ but I'm not really sure, so if anybody knows where, I will apreciate very much the info. Bye DMC

Nah, thats not the way to do it. What service did you register with? There are many, but probably the most reliable is www.dyndns.org - free for up to 5 machines. AND they have "clients" that can run and watch your IP and if it ever changes they update the dyndns.org database. Most of these clients will work with many different dynamic IP servers. The client I use is called ez-ipupdate http://www.gusnet.cx/proj/ez-ipupdate/ which I just start when the machine starts with a line in /etc/init.d/boot.local that reads : /usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate -d -c /root/dyndns.conf -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

the automatic dynamic IP update provided by no-ip.org has served me very well for about a year now. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org
