These printers work fine in DOS, and also worked fine under Version 5.1.
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!
Try setting them up again in YaST and then restart the lpd daemon.

Hello Dwight: Thanks for the response. I have already done this (several times) and the problems continue unchanged. Hal -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I can presume then you have also tried rebooting which is the next advice I would offer. As I have only been on SuSE a week, I am not in a position to go deeper into the problem with you, but I did have the same problem on my printer, even though mine is a PostScript printer. There is in addition to /etc/rc.config, also the file /etc/apsfilterrc which needs to be edited. You may also test to see if printing a PostScript file gives you the same results as ASCII. In my case, PostScript printed fine. My only problem was printing ASCII. This may give you additional clues. apsfilter creates three printing filters: PostScript, ASCII and raw. Each has additional configs you can do in /etc/apsfilterrc. Good luck, Dwight -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
