Yast problem trying to add packages from DVD
In SuSE 9.2 I was trying to install additional packages from the DVD. Yast keeps saying "Insert SuSE Linux 9.2 DVD 1." I keep clicking OK with the DVD in the drive, and nothing happens. It just immediately repeats the same "insert DVD 1" dialog. I logged out, logged in as root, fired up Yast, and it installed the packages no problem. I logged back in as user, tried to install other packages, and same thing: endlessly repeating "Insert SuSE Linux 9.2 DVD 1" as if the DVD is not in the drive. Since it works as root, is there some kind of permission issue? That doesn't make sense since Yast requires the root password, but on the other hand I can't think of another explanation. Has anyone else seen this behavior or does anyone have an idea how I can get it to work without having to log out as user and back in as root? Thank you. I have several times changed my DVD or other disk hardware and discovered that the assumed /dev/hd... mapping to /media/dvdplayer did not get changed, even though the hardware is on a different /dev/hd... If you ask YAST to show details it also lets you type in the correct device name (if that is your problem, too). --Ed At 09:51 PM 3/8/2005, you wrote:
