In SuSE 9.3 (upgrade from 9.1) when I start the Runlevel editor from Yast (system->System Services), it starts and begins finding which services are On and which are Off, but when it reaches the bzflagserver service, it hangs forever and I can only continue normal operation if I reboot the machine. Well, I did an upgrade from 9.2 to 9.3. Your problem and a number of other oddities were experienced in short order, so I did a clean install - now all is well. SOMETIMES an upgrade will "go on like a glove," but most often, you're much better served just doing a clean install. I did also upgrade from 9.1 to 9.3, no problems - best time ever. I always update. Be sure you check your "/var/adm/rpmconfigcheck" file, solve all listed issues, rerun "rcrpmconfigcheck". Perhaps reboot to apply changes can be appropriate. Then, check "ls -al /etc/init.d/bzflagserver*". Remove those files (only one should be there if correct) to another temporary location. Then, try "chkconfig" on a terminal, and finally, yast. It should not hard crash, a reboot should not be necessary to kill a program. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I've had this happen after a fresh 9.3install and had to do CTRL-ALT-Backspace to get out of it and stuck to using chconfig since. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
