hello there I am not an expert of SUSE also if I have used it as SUSE 10 for some Chemical applications. Now I have installed from a DVD obtained with a magazine the SUSE 11.1. I used installed becouse I have changed the motherboard and the CPU, from an AMD to an Intel. With Win XP I saw that the disk partitions were 3: 1 for window , the second of 2 GB and the third of 90 gb. On these last was mounted SUSE10 that did not work with the new hardware: the new motherboard and CPU. The installation seems to be completed well with 4 partiion for the disk: 1 always for window, the second for 2 GB of swaap, the third 20 GB for the prncipal directory / and the forth of 70 GB for the directory /home. When I switch on the computer I have three choices 1 window2 2 failsaffe 3 SUSE 11.1 when I press Window it works, when I press SUSE11.1 it fails at the end with strange color on the screen but I can see some confused icons caracteristic of SUSE and I can exit in manual mode using the keyboard. If I press failsafe I have suse 11.1 that is functioning, at least for what I have done, but the screen does not show the icons present in in my directory under Desktop. How I can solve the problem to get SUSE11.1 working well? What is the use of the failsafe choice? Do you know some SUSE expert in Milan ITALY and give me her/his e-mail? thank you roby -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Boot in level 3, or switch to level 3, log in as root, then use sax2 to configure graphic mode. When it works, start level 5 (init 5). - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
