Since SUSE didn't ship Pysol with 9.0, does it run fine with it, did SUSE just not include it, or has anyone here installed it from the Net. and gotten it to run? Thanks, Fred -- "...Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows XP (also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)."

It is. I made a clean install of 9.0 and it is in /usr/bin/pysol . Don't know which CD it's on as I installed from the DVD. (Bought it the same day as SUSE9) :-) Just fire up yast2, install programs and do a search. What I'm really pissed off about re games is that there no longer seems to be any crossfire stuff, no server, no client. Olle -- War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left. I installed it from DVD but no go: it wants to import Tkinter, which is in my /usr/lib/python2.2 subdirectory but not installed as part of python 2.3 or any other rpm on the 9.0 DVD that I can find. Henry Harpending

Would you run locate Tkinter and let me know what you get? If you have something like Tkinter.py or Tkinter.so would you also tell me what rpm -qf /path/Tkinter.extension gives you? Thanks, Henry Harpending

My fault: I have an "updated" python-tk rpm from apt that breaks pysol. I reverted to the one on the CD and pysol works fine. Henry Harpending

I found that a lot of new 8.2 packages stuck around after upgrading to 9. I wrote a script to find out what packages to "rpm -Uvh --oldpackage" from the DVD. Very nice: I have 25 such packages on my system. Thanks, Henry [BTW the script is an attachment to Mr. Oakley's post. HCH]

A fact. It is on the DVD and not the CDs. Bob, did you upgrade from 8.2?
apt-info --ve 8.2 --nosrc "^python$" | python | 2.2.2-92 | i586 | base | | python | 2.3.1-0 | i686 | suser-kpietrz |
On suse-9.0 richard@pilchard:/var/cache/apt/apt-info> rpm -q python python-2.3-43 You can find python 2.3 on the dvd/cd -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
