Kernel compile of downloaded kernel. What is patch file in mantel directory on suse ftp.
A number of times I have downloaded and compiled the newest kernels from the suse mantel directory, but I wonder what the patch file e.i. patches-2.4.10-0.tar.bz2 is. If it's patched to the kernel source itself, then how do one invoke the patch command so all the patched files are patched correctly. ------------------------------------------------- Thanks in advance Bo Jacobsen e-mail: Bo@SystemHouse.dk

Did you look at the README in the same directory? suse-2.4.10-3.bz2 Patch to bring vanilla 2.4.10 to the status of linux-2.4.10.SuSE-3.tar.bz2 patches-2.4.10-3.tar.bz2 Collection of the separate patches. Applying them in "ls" order is equivalent to applying just the big suse-2.4.10-3.bz2 patch You can either apply all single patches (e.g. cat patches/* | patch) or simply use the big one.
