I'm looking for a tool to use in locating a file that doesn't show with either find files or graphically in Konqueror. Here is the problem. If I type wordperfect in bash the program runs. If i click on the wpwin9.exe icon it expand and then collapses but nothing else. I desire to make a link on the desktop to just click to run the program but I can't find that "wordperfect" that works. So what command do I use to find the "wordperfect" that I need which Suspect is just a link? dave

sh: ~> which wordperfect /usr/bin/wordperfect sh: ~> ls -l /usr/bin/wordperfect lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 Apr 25 2001 /usr/bin/wordperfect -> ../lib/corel/bin/wpolauncher So wordperfect is a link to /usr/lib/corel/bin/wpolauncher, but for some peculiar reason if I launch wpolauncher directly, I get this message: /usr/lib/corel/bin/wpolauncher: don't know what to do when invoked as 'wpolauncher'. Corel WordPerfect Office 2000 Program Launching Summary To run: Type: WordPerfect 9 wordperfect Quattro Pro 9 quattropro Corel Presentations 9 presentations <etcetera> Still, it is easy to run Wordperfect from an icon on the desktop. For example, in KDE: right click somewhere on the desktop > Create new > Link to application. Under Execute > Command, simply type wordperfect You can do the same for the other 11 programs listed by wpolauncher (quattropro, presentations, paradox etc.) SH

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I used the type command to locate the "correct" wordperfect, drug the icon onto the desktop, and said link. Everything worked as I wanted. I then did the same for all the rest of the wordperfect office 2000 and draw 9 suite programs and that put an end to winderz on my office machine. No more daily crashes. dave
