Error with wxGTK app (Audacity) not loading
Greetings, I am a semi-newbie :) and I am trying to install Audacity 1.22 (the latest stable version available on SuSE's 9.1 APT repository (gwdg.de). It install wxGTK as a dependency, and everything seems ok. However, when I try to run it, it displays a GTK dialog box asking me which language to use, I select English and click OK. The following message appears on the konsole window: audacity: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so.0: undefined symbol: _gtk_accel_group_attach Suspecting some incompatibility in the packaged versions, I downloaded the tarball from audacity.sourceforge.net and tried compiling form source. During ./configure, I get: configure: error: "Could not find wx-config: is wxWindows installed? is wx-config in your path?" And indeed I could not find it on my system. I tried installing wx*everything either via YaST and APT and both messages remain the same. I also tried to install the oldest version (1.2.0) and the error remains. Any clues? I have SuSE 9.1 with KDE 3.3.1 and most patches from gwdg.de (including usr-local-bin, packman, suse-people, suse-projects) Thanks a lot.
Did you install wxGTK-devel ? If not do it I'm a wxWidgets developper and sometime I got this message If nothing goes right. Try this : Get wxWidgets from www.wxwidgets.org (2.4 or 2.5) the unstable version is stable enought... :) Get Audacity Compile and install wxWidgets (check out options before ./configure --help) Compile and install Audacity You will need gtk-devel, libogg-devel and so one. I did it on a SuSE pro 8.0. It worked fine --- Regis FLORET Le sam 16/10/2004 à 22:28, Bruno Baptista a écrit :

Get Audacity
Wow, so Audacity does actually work with the wxPython 2.5? -- Stephen If your desktop gets out of control easily, you probably have too much stuff on it that doesn't need to be there. Donna Smallin, "Unclutter Your Home"

Absolutely not !!! Audacity works with wxWidgets, which is a cross-platform c++ toolkit (really crossplatform - Linux/Unix, Windows 32, MacOS Classic/carbon/Cocoa,OS/2,...) wxPython is a wxWidgets binding in python like wxPerl is a perl binding... -- ---- Regis FLORET
