Hi, SuSErs :) My stand-alone PC crashed in night ~ doing nothing, I believe . . . no cron-job scheduled around crash-time . . . system had been up & running for about a week. This is what /var/log/messages reports :- ...................................... Does anyone, please, have a clue, as to what may have caused this 'random' crash . . . a Cosmic ray ? { using UPS, doubt that Power Supply could have been cause } Thanks best wishes, Richard ____________ sent on Linux ____________

It's almost impossible to tell what happened from this little snippet. If the kernel Oopsed, you need to run the Oops output through "ksymoops" to convert it into useful output. In addition to that, essential information like kernel version and some basic hardware information is missing... It might have been a cosmic ray, but it's hard to tell. Keep a close eye and check, if it happens again.
