Maybe I missed this in the archives, but is there a standard, fairly easy method of creating a rescue CD? Also, what if the CD burner is on a different (Windows) PC? Thanks in advance! Gary Vetter ND Retirement and Investment Office (701) 328-9879

[if what you mean is an equivalent of a boot disk...] You've already got a rescue CD. SuSE CD number 1 is bootable, just like you're going to do an install. I believe you start in text mode and after selecting your video, language, and keyboard settings, you can start a rescue session. It boots a kernel off the CD and lets you choose to either mount the CD as / or mount another filesystem (yours) as /. You should try it a few times to make sure you know how to use it BEFORE you need to depend on it (I learned this the hard way, but after some fiddling around this rescue CD saved my entire installation after Yast ate my lilo.conf for breakfast).

Yes, find out where the option is, since it is not so very obvious from linuxrc that there is a rescue system on it .. it looks like you are starting a new installation from the initial screens. As said above explore it a bit before you need it. -- Regards Cliff
