Yes, from one VC to the other works. Select the text with the left mouse button, switch to another VC (alt-F3 for example), and paste the text with the middle mouse button. If you have a two-button mouse, use the right button to paste text. Paul.

I was under the impression (and actual use) that the answer is to press the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously to paste text. Has this changed? --doug

In the past, I have used that too. Nowadays I have a three button mouse, so I cannot tell you from experience if it really has changed. The text above is from the gpm man page: "Two-button mice use the right button to paste text.". Paul.
