[opensuse] Lost panel
Sometimes, very sometimes, after a 'zypper up' that possibly, I don't know details not what to look for, updates parts of plasm, I loose panels and windows at login. perhaps I knew how to recover, but it happened today and I can't recall. Sorry to be vague. All I can say is that the config vanished, I just have the one window and no panels and that's it. No blank space to clink on. Any suggestions? -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

To re-add a panel, right click in the desktop, unlock widgets. Right click in de desktop again, Panel options, Add Panel, default panel. I've seen this before, mostly people using 'ourdated' plasma themes. If you want to reconfigure the entire desktop appearance to default, logout the through a console remove/move ~/.config/plasma* -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. No. This is a 'only sometimes' and if i had a clue as to why I'd know to take prosecutions. I suspect some plasma component isn't running. I don't know if that's so, just that running a 'ps' seems to leave me with an itch that something should be there but isn't.

ROTHFCMYEO. There is NO desktop to click on. That's the point I'm trying to make. I know to do what you suggest if it were simply a matter of the panel along being borked, but its the desktop that's gone.

OK I'll try that and report back ...

Anyway, I ended up (re)moving ~/.config/session -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

open a term window and: kquitapp5 plasmashell && kstart5 plasmashell && sleep 5 && exit (as <user>) see if restarting plasma provides ... -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
