Hi Can someone tell me the stuff that end up in the lost+found dir can this stuff be deleted ???
The stuff you find in lost+found are orphaned inodes (files) that were found by fsck when it was run at some point in the history of the system in question.
Before you delete them you should see what is there and make sure it is not important to you.
Otherwise, yes, you can delete them.

(sig line trimed) Hi all, Can someone tell me how to view these "inodes" I (as root" did a "ls -a" on the directory and got back nothing. What is the best way for viewing them. To view stuff in lost+found you would use the same commands you would use to view any file anywhere on the disk. My strategy would be cd /{PATH}/lost+found file * and then depending on what file type it is use the appropriate command. Depending on ownership and permissions of the file of course... -- :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Peter L.
