Does anyone know if SuSE-9.0 has a Xserver for the video card Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra? I'm currently running 8.2, but it's crippled: 1) To see the system boot, you have to disable graphical logins and 2) you cannot use OpenGL. Nvidia does have a linux driver for the FX 5900 Ultra, but attempts to install it (via the nvidia installer) results in a failed compilation when it attempts to compile the appropriate module. Thanks, gary __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search http://shopping.yahoo.com

Thanks, <snip>
As stated elsewhere in this list, before compiling the nvidia driver the kernel sources have to be installed and configured. The kernel sources are on the cd/dvd. Switch to /usr/src/linux. Run "make cloneconfig, make dep, make bzImage and make modules". Run the command "export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=yes", and then compile the nvidia driver. Woked on a desktop and a laptop here. HTH. LW999

It is only necessary to "make cloneconfig && make dep". It is nnot necessary to make a kernel image and the modules to compile the nvidia driver.
