KsCD starts when I insert audio CD... How do I turn the damned thing off????
I want control of this box... KsCD is driving me nuts... I want to work with an audio cd not play the damned thing but KsCD automagically starts when I insert an audio CD and I can't find anywhere to tell it not to start... And another thing... when I do put an audio CD in and this damned thing starts up... all my icons get messed around with yet again... instead of being neatly arranged down the left hand side they suddenly sort themselves across the screen...

Start KsCD > click the tools button > uncheck the box "Autoplay when CD inserted". Jake

no good... I've already got that box unchecked. The program starts up when an audio CD is inserted into the drive, and then promptly crashes. Something else is detecting the audio CD and calling up KsCD to handle it.

Paul, Check the mail archives, this has been covered previously! Also, to give you a hint, SuSEPlugger (circuit board icon in systray). Lee -- --- KMail v1.5.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

I only reach for the mailing list when I haven't been able to solve my problem using google to search the mailing list and other assets like the usenet groups...

Paul, My bad, I was sure this had been brought up and resolved on this list, but after searching further, I didn't see it either. I guess I saw it on the SuSE-KDE list then and the answer about SuSEPlugger. One of those too many mail lists problems. ;o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.5.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Cheers... It's sorted now... and preserved for posterity in the archives... :)

Good day Paul, your desktop icons are shuffled around? I know SuSEplugger has a tendency to do this. SuSEplugger detects devices and creates icons for them on the desktop on the fly. Perhaps it is SuSEplugger that is teasing you. Try to see if it has any settings that ring any bells, or try to disable it all together. Best regards :o) Johnny :o)

ta... killed the cdrom bit (deselected the cdrom checkbox) and told it not to autostart apps... and told it to use static device icons. It was beginning to remind me of some of those irritating aspects of XP...
Best regards :o)
