Have you followed the instructions? http://www.gaugusch.at/fou4s/ It worked from the box for me, and I just copy the cached updates to my other machines and end up with only one download of the bulky stuff. -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services

It worked great for me and that is even though I didn't read all the directions carefully :-(

Hi.
I have this problem with fou4:
eurit:~ # fou4s -i --interactive
WARNING: You are using an ftp server and ftp_proxy is set. Fou4s can't use the proxy, because wget makes some trouble with ftp over a proxy.

How do I switch off the proxy ??.
The answer is at: http://fou4s.gaugusch.at/ Currently known problems (0.7.0) The following problems have been found out after releasing. Please consult the KNOWN-BUGS file for other known problems. * People who use an FTP server will receive the message WARNING: You are using an ftp server and ftp_proxy is set. Fou4s can't use the proxy, because wget makes some trouble with ftp over a proxy, even if there is no ftp_proxy variable set. To fix it, change line 1266 from "ftp_proxy" to "$ftp_proxy". and it works. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org

Where is ftp_proxy placed, and where is the total fou4s placed ??.
and it works.

I do not understand your question. I provided a direct quote from the sited web page. If you edit /usr/sbin/fou4s as indicated, you will no longer have the problem with 'ftp_proxy'. The author is very quick to respond to problems and provided this 'fix' after I queried him late last nite. I am sure that if you are unable to attain satisfactory results with the edit, questioning him will resolve your problem. PLEASE, do not cc or reply other than to the list unless requested to do otherwise. I now have 3 copies (why??) of your post including this one to the list for no good reason. This is very poor etiquette and reflects lack of knowledge in participation in mailing lists. If I were paying for connect time, I would consider billing you for service. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org

After this I'll give it a try.

I'm deeply sorry for this. But if I do just send mails to suse-linux-e, I sometimes is loosing answers because somebody doesn't read just the suse-linux-e. Was easier if people would tell what they want. Again I'm VERY sorry for the inconvenience and for the loose of your money and time. Will stop now. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards - Vy 73 de oz4kk Erik Jakobsen - erik@urbakken.dk SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional.
