[opensuse] Can't connect to eduroam with script Hi,
I'm trying to connect to eduroam wifi with opensuse (I've tried tw and leap), but when I run the script we are provided, it says: Could not continue with credentials collection. On other distros, it pops up a browser so I can authenticate on our sso web page, then sets up the wifi connection. Any idea what that error means or how I can get connected to eduroam with the institution provided script? There are no manual setup instructions for wifi settings here, so I can't do that. Thanks, -Wes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

you might consider sharing the script. if the script is long, pastebin it somewhere and provide the link. only someone familiar with eduroam and/or your ?? institution would otherwise have a clue. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
The script is here: https://cloud.securew2.com/public/49984/USU/ It is a shell script that when run it creates a folder in /tmp/securew2... with a bunch of python scripts that do the wifi setup. I tried to debug main.py with pycharm, but I got stuck at the function: PaladinLinuxClient().run where there is no code to debug, just a library function call. I expect it's more to do with FF preferences. Specifically it asks you whether you want to execute a command or save it in a file, and it asks you whether you want to always apply that answer, and it saves the answers to those questions as preferences, for each file type. So I expect you've chosen automatic execution at some time. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

As Per says, maybe you did download it to understand what was in it. That's what I did too, but I stopped because I'm not going to attempt to login to a US system without authorisation. I don't want black helicopters landing on my lawn and dragging me away! (They'd have to fight with our Apaches that regularly fly over our heads though :)

I do agree with this though. Wes, if you still want our help then you're going to have to unpack everything and post it where we can see it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Correct. They are not providing any more help. It works for ubuntu, fedora, clear linux, mint. I get the same error on opensuse and manjaro. I posted here in hopes that someone had used the script method to connect to eduroam and had a way to get it to work. The file seems to have some stuff to unpack. This appears to be about your uni IT people. So complain to their bosses if they aren't fulfilling their responsibilities! What about my question about the intertubes? Don't tell me this answer applies to that? FWIW, you will find that the problem is most likely in the setup of your networking. Per's setup on his 15.2 Leap does work, so it's certainly possible. You didn't say what version of Leap you tried, nor what network settings you have.

Hi Wes I have just now tried it on my Leap 15.2 - seems to work just fine. I download the SecureW2_JoinNow.run script and run it. I used my laptop with 15.2, it uses NetworkManager for the wifi connection. I think it's about as standard as it gets. Hi Wes, what do you need a script for? At my company, I used the network manager to enter my credentials and I can login fine with eduroam. To have an assistant, you can download eduroam CAT (configuration assistant tool) from <https://cat.eduroam.org/>. This tool also makes sure that the used certificates match with the actual endpoint :) HTH, Werner -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Werner, We used to be able to log in to eduroam with a username and password, but they have gone this script route. cat.eduroam.org basically pushes the user to use the institutions installer script. I just tried leap 15.2 live and it has the same error. Could not continue with credentials collection. I did install chrome to and check with both firefox and chrome to see if they were the default browser, but no go. -Wes On Fri, Sep 25, 2020 at 7:23 AM Werner Flamme <werner.flamme@email.de> wrote:
