[S.u.S.E. Linux] Printing problems
Hello: I recently upgraded from 5.1 to 5.2, and despite everything I've tried, I can't get my printers to work properly. I set them up (/dev/lp1 => HP Deskjet 500 and /dev/lp2 => epson) using YaST, but things don't work. If I issue the command (as root) "cat .bashrc > /dev/lp1" the file starts printing out in "stair-step" fashion, and hangs after a few lines. If I issue the command "lpr -Plp1 .bashrc", I get the following: "%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: # ]% (d84)name(0x81624d8#7) .... also printed in stair-step, which hangs the printer when the output gets to the .paper edge. If I issue the command (as root) "cat .bashrc > /dev/lp2", this little file prints out perfectly. However, if I issue the command "lpr -Plp4 .bashrc", I get the following error printout: "%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: # ]% ( d84 )name( 0x81624d8#7 )Execution stack at 0x815f9f8: " followed by a short dump of some memory locations. These printers work fine in DOS, and also worked fine under Version 5.1. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!! -- Hal Schlicht -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Try setting them up again in YaST and then restart the lpd daemon. Dwight -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
