Having had a fine and problemless connection via my external modem, I have some troubles since two or three weeks. I do not know if this is due to a DOS because of the several Windows worms and or viri so I want to check out my KDE2 Kmail setup. I am running SuSe prof 7.2 out of the box on my Pentium II, 400 MHz. My external modem, a 3 com, U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Fax modem does not give any problems if I use it with the same info in the setup in Dos. The first information I get is that at checking my mail after a good connection is made with my ISP (checked with the webbrowsers) is the square which says "unknown host, pop.indo.net.id " When I want to send email's the info is somewhat more in detail and says: "host smtp.indo.net.id, following transport protocol was used, smtp://smtp.indo.net.id:25 " I know that both addresses are correct because I use them since long and the ISP confirmed that they had not played with their setup. I have no idea what is causing this resistance of Kmail to send and receive and would like to get some help in finding out where to look.

Looks like a DNS problem. It needs to translate the names to IP numbers (the real address) -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 "We can stand affliction better than we can prosperity, for in prosperity we forget God." --Dwight Lyman Moody
