Hi all. I'm trying to build an absolute minimum installation of SuSE 7.2, since (a) it's going to be a firewall, and (b) it's going to run completely from ramdisk. Anyway, I'm currently down to about 200 MB, and I'm looking at that perl package, thinking about the 50 MB it's using up. So, can anyone think of any basic, low-level tool that really *requires* PERL? My setup is a simple ISDN + SuSEfirewall2 + NIC installation. Text mode only, Yast1. The box will scp logs onto another box inside the network at regular intervals, where they can be processed if necessary, so PERL is not required for stuff like that. Incidentally, there are some bizarre dependencies on the X11 base libraries... -- David Smith Tel: +44 (0)1454 462380 (direct) STMicroelectronics Fax: +44 (0)1454 617910 1000 Aztec West TINA (ST only): (065) 2380 Almondsbury Home: 01454 616963 BRISTOL Mobile: 07932 642724 BS32 4SQ Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk
