I cannot get Bluetooth to work!! I followed the description of http://www.hilzinger.hu/ch/bluetooth.html (second package, since I still use KDE 3.1 as in SuSE 9.0) I installed the package via YAST, which also asked for the CD 4.
Using the tools: Once installed, launch bluetooth as root:
rcbluetooth start
NOT FOUND !!!
Then start the KDE bluetooth demon (as normal user):
/opt/kde3/bin/kbluetoothd
Probably you will also have to edit the /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf file, where
I don't have such directory either!
I changed the pin_helper from bluepin to /opt/kde3/lib/kdebluetooth/kbluepin (for the old package it's /opt/kde3/bin/kbluepin). In this case, you should restart the bluetooth system with:
rcbluetooth restart
Finaly start Konqueror and type "sdp:/" in Konquerors URL field. You then should see something like this (if not, check if you enabled Bluetooth on your phone :-):
I do get the Bluetooth K sign in the toolbar of the screen (beside the clock) Putting in my Bluetooth dongle and clicking on this gray Bluetooth K sign pops up Konqueror with the sdp:/ directory containing "Local system" What can I do next? bye Ronald -- Ronald Wiplinger Senior Software Engineer AGP Telecom Co. Just to be sure which files are included in that bluetooth package, type: rpm -ql bluetooth-package where 'bluetooth-package' (w/o quotes) must be replaced with the real package name. Maybe those missing files are installed elsewhere... :) HTH, Martin

You need to do the paring from the phone not the computer :)) Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet

I tried that many times, ... (as I can pair the mobile phone and THIS Bluetooth dongle with Windows XP on another machine) My mobile phone has no problem to find Bluez(0) and when I pair the devices, it askes me for the password. Whatever password I give in, it is not accepted! The Pin Request window for pairing does not pop up on my computer!!! So far I found only one hint, but that is against the description that it works with 9.0 "out of the box": I use: uname -a Linux ron 2.4.21-215-smp4G #1 SMP Tue Apr 27 00:56:55 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I found that it needs kernel 2.4.22 or higher. Is that right? If so, how can I upgrade the kernel? BTW, sound is also not working, maybe an upgrade of the kernel would help for both problems. bye Ronald
