[opensuse] SuSE updater icon in taskbar (10.2)
Hi list, - I wish to get rid of the SuSE updater (is it called so?), the little icon in the taskbar that turns to orange when updates are available. - I wish to do so, because the desktop is presented to students (LTSP) and I don't want the ordinary users desktop to show the icon. - what's the app called? - thank you in advance! -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard Novell Certified Linux Professional 10035701 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for answering my question. Strange thing is that when you remove opensuse-updater-kde during install it still gets installed. -- Regards, Aniruddha Please adhere to the OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That's a very good question. It is called 'opensuse-updater' and you can exit it by right clicking on it. But I just spent some time to try and figure out who is starting it, and I couldn't find the answer. There is probably some kind of system KDE folder for default startup apps, but I'm not sure where that is. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Linux Brain Dump - Linux Notes, HOWTOs and Tutorials: http://www.linuxbraindump.org Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Okay, I figured it out. The magic folder is /opt/kde3/share/autostart in there is an 'opensuseupdater.desktop'. remove that file and it won't get started when you login into KDE. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Linux Brain Dump - Linux Notes, HOWTOs and Tutorials: http://www.linuxbraindump.org Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That one is called zen-updater (different color than opensuseupdater) Uninstall the Zen pattern to get rid of it and its dependencies. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
