RE: [SLE] Xwindow sytem: no mouse, no keyboard, please help
I have exactly the same problem (and exactly the same mouse). When you first start SAX, DO NOT touch your mouse. Use TAB until you get the large button "Disable" highlighted, and hit ENTER. Confirm disable by answering "Yes" (hit Y). Use TAB again until you get back into the mouse type box again - then use the down arrow to pick Microsoft & hit ENTER. I believe it sends you to the next box over and you should use the down arrow again to choose the scroll mouse (third one down I think). This one uses the IMPS/2 protocol which is what you want. Once you hit ENTER to choose this one, it will ask you if you want to enable this setting. Enter "Y" and you should now be able to use you mouse. Don't forget to enable "emulate 3 buttons" so you can use your scroll button for cut & paste. Hope it works! When I choose /dev/ttyS2 mouse setting and start Xwindow system, my mouse does not function at all, and keyboard also does not function. I am using Suse 7.0 Professional. My mouse is a standard Mitsumi mouse with a PS/2 interface. It has 3 buttons, the middle one being a scroll button that you can either push up or down. My keyboard is a simple 101 key standard board with a PS/2 interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix these things. Also, if you have any suggestions for a decent graphics card that will work with XFree 3.3.6, I would greatly appreciate it. I am thinking of wiping out my current installation of Suse 7.0 and starting over from scratch using XFree 3.3.6. Thank you for your time and help.
