run-crons is the script SuSE runs to trigger all the other scripts listed in /etc/crontab. Using man I discovered that ls -R is a recursive listing of directories, and that /usr/share/misc/magic is a file containing descriptions of the magic number (or string) the defines every file type on a Linux system. My system doesn't have the textmf or texmf/db and I don't have anything in /var/cache/fonts. You can see the results of the last cron run by looking at the log: /var/spool/cron/lastrun/<cronlog> to see what happended. JLK Scientific theories, according to Sir Karl Popper, can be "falsified," or proven wrong, by experiment. Unscientific theories -Marxist dialectical history and Freudian psychology were Popper's favorites- are formed in such a way that they cannot be falsified by data.
