Hi Per, should not harm. I got the same message (on ppc) but it works.
dmesg says: logips2pp: Detected unknown logitech mouse model 1 input: PS/2 Logitech Mouse on isa0060/serio1
Is it really a ps2 mouse? If it is: try a "cat /dev/psaux" or "cat /dev/input/mice" as root. It should produce some "noise" on your screen.
The mouse works fine in Compaq SmartStart,
What is this?
but not in e.g. sax2 or elsewhere. Any hints as to where to start troubleshooting this?
Take a look in /dev/input/ Theoretically you have to find the correct device, where your mouse events are reported. Insert this device in /etc/sysconfig/mouse or run sax2 with commandline option for the mouse device. -- mdc

OK, I just hadn't seen it before.

OK, that's worth trying. It really is a PS2 mouse, yes :-) - I guess I could swap to a serial instead, but let's see if I can get this one to work.

It's a Compaq boot-CD for configuring a server - as far as I can see, it's built on Windows95.

Thanks for all of this - at least I've got something to try out now. /Per Jessen, Zürich
