Yes, and no. I'm stuck in dependancy hell with it right now. Looks like Sunday will be "track down obscure rpms" day. YMMV Be well, Lissa -- INCORPORATION, n. Hello, Lissa. I just installed Evolution 1.0.2 at the weekend on my SuSE 7.3 box. Here's the procedure I followed, and the RPMs I found I needed: 1. Install Evolution from the SuSE CD/DVD. It is in the Gnome group. This will then go on to install any dependent packages. 2. Having written down the list of dependencies, I downloaded updated RPMs for those files from the Ximian FTP site. 3. Starting with the Evolution 1.0.2, I performed an 'rpm --test -Uvh *.rpm' until all dependencies were satisfied. The following is the list of files I found that I needed to download, all from the SuSE 7.3 folder on the Ximian ftp server: bonobo-conf-0.14-ximian.1.i386.rpm control-center-1.4.0.2-ximian.1.i386.rpm evolution-1.0.2-ximian.1.i386.rpm evolution.txt gal-0.19-ximian.1.i386.rpm gconf-1.0.7-ximian.2.i386.rpm gdk-pixbuf-0.13.0-ximian.1.i386.rpm gnome-core-1.4.0.4-ximian.9.i386.rpm gnome-libs-1.4.1.2-ximian.2.i386.rpm gnome-pilot-0.1.64-ximian.1.i386.rpm gnome-print-0.34-ximian.1.i386.rpm gnome-vfs-1.0.3-ximian.4.i386.rpm gtkhtml-1.0.1-ximian.1.i386.rpm gxmhtml-1.4.1.2-ximian.2.i386.rpm libbonobo-conf0-0.14-ximian.1.i386.rpm libgal18-0.18.1-ximian.1.i386.rpm libgal19-0.19-ximian.1.i386.rpm libghttp-1.0.9-ximian.8.i386.rpm libglade-0.16-ximian.4.i386.rpm libgnomeprint15-0.34-ximian.1.i386.rpm libgtkhtml20-1.0.1-ximian.1.i386.rpm libnspr4-0.9.7-ximian.4.i386.rpm libnss3-0.9.7-ximian.4.i386.rpm libunicode-0.4.gnome-ximian.2.i386.rpm oaf-0.6.7-ximian.1.i386.rpm orbit-0.5.12-ximian.1.i386.rpm pilot-link-0.9.5-ximian.2.i386.rpm ximian-menus-1.4-ximian.5.i386.rpm ximian-utils-0.2-ximian.1.i386.rpm This list is a combination of updates to what SuSE installed from the CD/DVD and new files for Evolution 1.0.2. With all of these files sitting in the same directory, a simple 'rpm -Uvh *.rpm' took care of the install. Then just type 'evolution' at a prompt, or create a desktop icon for it, and it'll launch into its welcome wizard. Hope that helps, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: Lissa [mailto:qibhom@provide.net] Sent: 08 February 2002 04:31 To: suse-linux-e Subject: Re: [SLE] Ximian for SuSE 7.3 On Thu, 2002-02-07 at 23:22, Jon wrote:

I think it's easier to just download the whole Ximian desktop package, isn't it? That's what I'm doing right now, although I did have to track down a few dependencies before the Ximian installer would even proceed... Nice to see they've already got Mozilla 0.9.8 in there. :) -- Daniel Rees e: dan@dwrees.co.uk w: http://www.dwrees.co.uk
Ah, but... With only a modem connection and per minute billing, I only wanted to download the files necessary to get Evolution working under KDE. I'm not interested in migrating to the entire Ximian desktop. Bye for now, Stuart. <snip I think it's easier to just download the whole Ximian desktop package, isn't it? I was able to get Ximian installed, but I was not so pleased with the outcome. Most things worked, including the newest evolution, but it broke xmms, and red carpet seg faults when it is starting. For now, I am back in KDE. Regards, Keith
