Did a status meeting take place on 13.06.06? I could only find some questions on the opensuse homepage for this scheduled meeting (and finding that was difficult enough), but no summary/answers and/or no transcript. Would be nice to get a summary as IRC is not such a good communication medium for people outside of the CEST time zone... ;-) Cheers, Th. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

Big hint: most modern IRC clients have a logging feature, so you're not forced to wait for SUSE staff to put the transcript of a meeting online. ;-) cheers, Sonja -- Sonja Krause-Harder (skh@suse.de) Research & Development SUSE Linux Products GmbH --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

And which IRC clients filters out the privately in-between sent /MSGsages? I guess that there is a reason that Henne is logging always with a second user. the log of any non op user will be fine. so ... yours e.g. henne is op, as he is moderating the session. so he is the only one seeing the "unwanted" messages. hence the second user for logging. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

I don't understand this comment. I asked for a summary of the meeting or a transcript because I did *not* attend the meeting (otherwise the question would not have made any sense in the first place) and I would like to know what was going on and what was discussed at the meeting. So why should I already have a transcript? What you're writing here makes no sense to me at all. I definitely rely on somebody (whether it's SUSE staff or anybody else, it doesn't matter) to put a transcript online or to send a summary of the meeting to this mailing list (by the way, I would prefer the latter because it makes a discussion of meeting topics much easier). Thanks Stephan for making the transcript available! At least some progress at the communication front line. Having no meeting minutes is a serious problem from my point of view as obviously not everybody can attend such meetings. I think Thomas had a valid question. he wanted to know, as do many, how to obtain access to a copy of the meeting minutes. The answer seems to be "if only you could travel back in time, simply do thus and so..." which while interesting is of no practical use. Anyone with a more practical answer? Come on, this is nonsense. I could have used telepathy as well, that's almost as practical as your proposal. I don't understand why some people on this mailing list come up with completely theoretical and unpractical proposals all the time. Blimey! Where is the problem for somebody who attended the meeting to put a short summary or the transcript online? This is a simple thing and that's all I have asked for. And it has happened thanks to Stephan. There is no need to discuss the question and there is no need to make silly comments, that's just unnecessary noise. At the end of the day, most things depend only on "your own actions". If somebody asks for a kernel feature, your answer would most likely also be "well, write your own kernel, it relies only on your own actions". Stupid posting, really... Hence, EOT please. No, sorry, I am on the winning side ;-) Well, I wrote some short minutes for the status meeting that took place on June, 13th. Please note that I did not attend this meeting, so these minutes are more or less based on my understanding of the transcript. Corrections and or discussions of the topics mentioned here are welcome. If somebody thinks the minutes should be part of the wiki, feel free to add it. Cheers, Thomas +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Minutes of the Status Meeting 13.06.2006 ---------------------------------------- a) mailing list infrastructure - Henne has new infrastructure almost in place: new mailing list software, scripts, conversion of old archives, new search function for archives, web layout etc. are working. There are still some things to sort out, e.g. backup, handling of bad accounts, etc.. - timeframe: should be finished by 16.06. - next step: move opensuse lists to new infrastructure. If this works out as expected, the suse lists will be moved as well. - there will be slight changes in the mailing list layout: the plan is to have a catchall mailing list "opensuse" for general questions and a project-related mailing list "opensuse-project" which is then meant for discussing the coordination of the project only. Other mailing lists can be considered as the need arises. - Beineri proposed to use the same layout for the IRC channels as well. A decision was postponed, further discussion about this topic expected to happen on IRC channels. b) Q & A - questions concerning problematic updates from 10.0 OSS to 10.1 were redirected to opensuse list or bugzilla as it was not possible to answer these technical questions without knowing the details. - forums: official openSUSE forums are still in "technical evaluation" state. cthiel is working on it. timeframe: some weeks as of now; everybody agreed that work should be finished before SUSE Linux 10.2 is released. - there will be no new ISOs with fixed package manager. People should use the online update during installation or YOU (if the OS is already installed) - this has been tested and it works. Problems with mirror delays have been solved. - sPiN mentioned problems with the registration process and the error message "no product found" and WIFI connections being killed. sPiN was asked to report the problem in bugzilla. Next meeting is schedulded for 27.06.06. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

I think the original comment by Sonja was misunderstood, which then lead to an unecessary escalation. Things to remember: - 'You' and variants are in English ambiguously singular or plural. Which at this late stage of its development would be hard to fix. - Replies in a thread you start are not necesarily directed at you even if you asked a straight question. I think the sequence was this: 1. Thomas: What happened in the meeting? 2. Beineri (suse): I have now put up the transcript 3. Sonja (suse): Hey everybody, stop relying on suse to do community tasks that can just as easily be done by any participant that attended the meeting. Personally I think that it should probably be a standing task that at the end of each meeting it is agreed between the participants who will post the transcript. pflodo Peter Flodin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org
