I have a fairly old, long running, 6.2 installation that has been updated to 6.3. I believe that somewhere along the way I have done some manual configuration that has confused yast. Unfortunately, I don't remember what I have done. My local network works well and I regularly use a ppp connection to my isp. When I decided I wanted to change my nameserver IP, I discovered problems: Changing the nameserver IP via yast seems not to work AND I cannot make long term changes in /etc/resolv.conf. In a probably related issue, yast no longer lets me get to "Network base configuration" by way of "Network configuration" and "System administration". "Network base configuration" is white and not selectable. Who can give me a clue on how to get my mess cleaned up? Other than just not messing with the configuration files outside of yast :-) -- Onward! Through the Fog!
