Hello again Ok, since we goofed out in other directions on this one: Let me repeat my question: Does anyone know what would cause jerky CD-audio with newer 2.0 kernels (post-2.0.27)? I have ruled out heavy load on the system, checked for IRQ/IO/DMA conflicts, but I still consider the PS/2 mouse a possible problem (When moving the mouse around alot under X, it is easier to produce the error), but there must be something else involved, as the jerkiness is seen even after a fresh reboot, and running workbone right after first login... I tried running irqtune (a small utility to change IRQ priorities in linux), and boosted IRQ 11 (SCSI controller) to highest priority, but the problem is just the same... I have also tried another (Adaptec original) SCSI cable, but no luck with that... Again, the CD works just fine with data CDs, and is fine under looser95 with data AND audio... Is there anyone who is familiar enough with the Tekram driver or general kernel SCSI code to tell if there has been any significant changes since 2.0.27? I tried to boot my 2.0.27 kernel from diskette to get the system up, and again, the CD audio was fine. However, I feel that I want to run the newer kernel because it feels better when one knows that bugs have been fixed (like F00F and teardrop fix)... Again, my hardware: Tekram DC-390T SCSI-2 PCI controller SCSI ID 0: Pioneer DR-U12X SCSI-2 Cdrom SCSI ID 1: IBM OEM Fast SCSI-2 hard drive SCSI ID 2: Seagate something SCSI-1 CCS hard drive (not sure what CCS means...) PS/2 mouse, irq 12, Leadtek L2300 graphics, SB32 pnp sound, 3com etherlink III isa network card, K6-200 on a Soyo 5VA5 VX board (512 Kb cache), 32 Mb EDO Ram. Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions. Helge M. Olsen /SysAdm/ Windows NT?
