[opensuse] HID that I don't need - how to get rid of them?
When I run sudo lsinitrd /boot/initrd | grep -i hid lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-cherry.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-roccat-isku.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-roccat-arvo.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-belkin.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-roccat-common.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-samsung.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/usbhid lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/usbhid/usbhid.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-roccat.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-ortek.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-logitech-dj.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-microsoft.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-apple.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-generic.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-holtek-kbd.ko lib/modules/4.4.2-1.gf12d966-default/kernel/drivers/hid/hid-ezkey.ko and then look these up, I'm sure don't need some. At https://lxr.missinglinkelectronics.com/#linux/drivers/hid/Kconfig I find that some like hid-apple, hid-rocat, hid-samsung, hid-ortek, hid-holtek, hid-belkin, hid-cherry I certainly do not need. Contrariwise, I do have a number of specific usb devices but the drivers for those seem to be able to load at run time as far as I can tell from using 'lsusb' and 'lsmod' after plugging them in. I'd like to slim down my initrd a bit further. How can I eliminate these? I'm not using dracut, so far as I can tell. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've posted often enough about that! You should be able to suppress single module "module-name" by adding "-module-name" (note leading "-") to INITRD_MODULES in /etc/sysconfig/kernel.
