[opensuse] nvidia drivers on thinkpad t61
Hi List! I've installed 10.3 on my thinkpad t61 with nvidia quatro nvs, and the display looks really weird. So I'm trying to install nvidia drivers from the opensuse website. I've looked there and it seems that nvidia quatro nvs is the "nvidia legacy" video card, so I installed via one click the drivers for legacy cards (the yellow button) but I'm still confused how to make it work. Installation went fine, I ran from root sax2 -r but then nothing happened. If I go to sax2 and try to configure the resolution and colors it says that everything is fine and changes will take effect next time I reboot X which I did, but it is still the same... Do you have any idea what's wrong with it? Do I need to install also the "green button" ;-) ? Sergey, I don't think the legacy is the right move. According to thinnkwiki the model of car you have is "nVidia Quadro NVS 140m".That is not one of the models listed for the legacy drives. See: http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T61 I am typing this on a t61. Screen looks fine. The nvidia rpms I have installed are: dvernon@iroh:~> rpm -qa |grep nvidia x11-video-nvidiaG01-169.12-0.1 nvidia-gfxG01-kmp-default-169.12_2.6.22.17_0.1-0.1 - djv -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just to set the record right Sergey, nothing called "thinnkwiki" has a reference to the type of "car" you have. Hi David! Thank you very much, that worked out! I just got confused because I saw in here http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA/Legacy the nvidia quadro nvs and thought that all the models are legacy. Getting my hands on installing compiz now...
