I am running SuSE 7.3 on a Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop, and these computers will toggle between its own monitor and an external one when you press FN + F8. I have done that when it was running Windows. Would I be inviting disaster to try it running Linux? When I installed Linux, I set the screen for an LCD screen. Will this affect the external screen. Will there be a momentarily satisfying, yet ultimately dispiriting explosion or anything if I try it? Neal
Hi It will work. And if You want to have different resolution with external monitor, just set the resolution with SaX2, and change it with cntr-alt-plus when You are running the external monitor. Jaska. Viestissä Tiistai 16. Huhtikuuta 2002 02:21, neal mcdermott kirjoitti:

Jaska: Okay. Thank you for answering, I will try it. Almost sounds too easy. Neal
Nearly every laptop has this feature. I have a Compaq. I use it for my presentations at the Unix course I teach at Northeastern University and for our monthly Linux meetings at the BLU. I plug the overhead VGA cable into the external monitor port, and when I boot both the LCD, the PC monitor and the overhead display my presentation. Function-F3 switches between LCD only, external only and both. On 15 Apr 2002 at 16:21, neal mcdermott wrote:
