I have a A7N8X-E MB and a AMD 2800+ which is working properly. I did change the bios setting of the CPU by changing to a less conservative critical speed control by the bios. It even shows up with a different boot message about speed. Don't use the automatic without changing that.
Sounds like a good thing to try, but I'm not sure of what you mean by "critical speed control." I only know what the BIOS tells me, which is CPU External Frequency (The Front Side Bus is equal to 2 times this value) Options: 100, 133, 166, or 200 MHz CPU Frequency Multiple Setting Options: Auto or Manual CPU Frequency Multiple (only if above field is set to Manual) 5x to 13x (when Auto is set above, it sets itself to 11.0x) ...and some overclocking settings that I can only imagine would further destabilize my system. Although, as I said, that is only a guess. Thanks for the tip, Donn. Dale
