k_deflt is your kernel. If this update goes wrong you won't be able to do anything more on your computer.... After updating the kernel execute: mk_initrd lilo -- Richard

Hi DB Troll, If you do an update of k_deflt and follow Richard's instructions, nothing will go wrong. If something does go wrong, the so-called 'kernel panic' occurs, you can repair this by booting from CD, option 'boot installed system' k_deflt is the pentium optimized kernel. In the meantime there is also k_athlon, for ... guess what ... Athlon processors:-). Athlons of course, will also work with k_deflt. Cheers .... Thanks Wolfi and Richard, I have a system running 8.0 Pro and using a Duron chip. I had read somewhere in I think these post about some problems with this. I have a few minor problems with my system and thought this might fix them. Is there a change log for these upgrades as I would like to see what is going to be chaged before hand. Thanks David
